AI WEIWEI: BARE LIFE
Identity, Typeface

Term: Fall 2019
Advisor: Chrissi Cowhey
Speculative brand identity and custom modular typeface designed for Chrissi Cowhey’s Form & Function capstone course at WashU. I designed the typeface and worked with a team (Sara Berman, Jingqi Fan, Sarah Rhee, and Eve Wallack) to create the rest of the identity.

Our identity concept works to illuminate Ai Weiwei’s unique method of destruction and creation. By breaking down our visual identity into its smaller component parts and then re-using those parts to create a visual language our identity mirrors the mode in which Ai Weiwei works and how his artworks are perceived.

The final deliverables included the typeface, posters, and signage around the museum and community.
